Custom Foot Orthotics

Orthotic devices for shoes are custom made for your individual foot and are tailored to suit the presenting condition . They are prescription medical devices that you wear inside your shoes to correct biomechanical foot issues such as problems with how you walk, stand, or run. They can also help with foot pain caused by medical conditions such as diabetes, plantar fasciitis/heel pain, bursitis, and arthritis.

About Orthotics

A foot orthosis is used to support the foot and encourage an improved gait. A foot orthosis may also be prescribed to accommodate certain foot shapes and help relieve areas of pressure.

A cast/mould and more recently a 3D scan of the individual foot is taken and sent to a specialist Orthotic Lab for custom Orthoses to be fabricated.

There is a wide variety of materials to best suit each patient's specific needs.

Your Podiatrist will be able to explain the different materials and reasons for their choice.

An Orthotic For Everyday Needs

Orthotics come in a variety of materials, ranging from rigid plastics to soft foam. All of these materials can be shaped to fit your individual foot. The rigid orthoses offer the most control of movement, while the softer ones provide better cushioning and protection. When prescribing your orthoses, Your Podiatrist will make the best match between your needs and the qualities of the materials.
